In this lesson we're going to cover the pros and cons of deciding whether you want to build a PBN Network for yourself.
Now it's not a small decision because a PBN Network can be expensive upfront to build and it is a lot of work to maintain, which are kind of cons, but we'll cover the pros for them as well. And the reason that you would want to do it ultimately is to control your rankings.
So we're just basically going to get right into pros and cons.
The Pro's
CONTROL
Meaning that when you're building links, you're the one building the links you choose the content, you choose the anchor text. You know, the power of the PBN that it's going onto, you know the relevance of the PBN. You're in 100% complete control of your links, and you maintain that control, meaning if you ever want to go remove your link or you want to change your link or you want to change the content you can.
You 100% control all the links of your PBN network where if you're buying links from some where else you probably won't be able to see the domain, you won't be able to change the content or update the links without contacting a vendor and taking a bunch of extra steps.
So number one, having 100% control is a huge advantage of building links with a PBN.
POWER
When we get into later videos I'm going to teach you how to buy powerful blogs for your PBN network, but when you have power on your side, you can move your site's ranking.
So power equals rankings, right? Or I should say rankings increases.
I'm going to show you in later videos how to make sure that the sites that you're acquiring for your PBN are powerful so that with powerful links you get more rankings.
With purchasing links from other vendors, you're kind of at their disposal of their power. You can look for more powerful links but they'll be more expensive and do you really ever know, if you're not able to actually see the link that your site is being built on, if the actual power is what they're presenting itself?
You can look at all the data and all the metrics and really know what you're getting and when you get powerful backlinks you get powerful ranking increases.
So it's it's a huge, huge pro of a private blog network.
LONG TERM VALUE
When you own a PBN and you want to go build a link, you don't have to pay anything, you just log into that WordPress site and you build the link.
PBN's can typically hold (depending on the power of the PBN and the amount of backlinks coming in) the amount of backlinks that you can build out to your different rank and rent properties, I try to stay around under 20 but if they're really big PBN's you can get up into the 40 into into the 60.
Which means 60 links, how much would you have to pay for 60 links from another vendor?
When you own the PBN even if you paid $600 for it and you're able to build 60 links, which is an unlikely situation, but just for easy math, if you paid $600 for this site to build links on and you could host 60 links to it, that means you only paid $10 per link. But you still own the domain if you remove some you can add some.
So the long term value of a PBN is actually pretty good. And you don't have to go out and buy 100 PBN's right away, you can start slow if you're ranking one site go by three or four PBN's to help you rank that site. And then you can slowly start reinvesting into it.
So there's a lot of the amazing pros to a PBN network now the cons
The Cons
EXPENSIVE
Good domains cost a lot of money and it seems like the marketplace has caught on that sites with lots of backlinks that are healthy and clean fetch a high price so they can be expensive.
Now if you're like I said in the last step, if you're going out and you want to invest, you know, in to 10 PBN sites, you could spend a lot of money to do that I've paid upwards of $2,000 for solid PBN's.
It doesn't mean that that's what you're gonna pay but when you start growing, you can start buying more expensive PBN's.
But to get started it can be a little bit of an expense which you have to factor if I'm going to be buying links off someone else should I be investing that budget into building my own PBN Network?
You just have to decide what's best for you a long term value or shorter term value, you have to look at your cash flow, it's kind of your situation.
MAINTENANCE
With tools like Project Supremacy v3 being a WordPress management software it does make the maintenance quite easy.
But if you don't have access to some sort of management tool, maintaining it can become a little bit tedious. By maintenance tasks, I mean, making sure that
- Your core your WordPress core files are updated
- Your plugins are updated
- Your themes are updated.
Those three things alone are typically the biggest security issues for any site. And even for a PBN, you don't want a vulnerability in your PBN allowing some hacker to come in access it and take it over and rendering it and all your links useless.
So you have to make sure you're keeping those all up to date. Another point of maintenance with a PBN is going to be the comments.
There's things that you can do to help reduce comments and by comments I mean, comments spam, people just surfing your site with bots and then automatically trying to build their own links by adding comments. It's called comment spam.
There are setups that we can teach you where you're just not allowing comment spam or if you want to allow comments to give it a little bit of a more natural feel. But to be able to manage the spam there are setups but it is part of the maintenance of a PBN network.
RISK
PBN's work extremely well to help you rank your sites. But you do pose a risk that if your PBN network gets uncovered by a person and they report it to Google, or if Google finds some sort of footprint in your PBN network and they can actually see it, they might deindex your PBN in Google meaning you won't get any value from it increasing your rankings.
It does pose a risk.
You can lose PBN sites in Google's index which makes them virtually worthless. You can recover from those deindexations but it's typically a little bit harder so it does carry risk. But if you know how to set up the PBN network properly which I am going to teach you guys, the risk is definitely worth it.
I have a 200 site network PBN, and yes, I have lost some, but what I've gained from my PBN network is so much more than what I've lost from my PBN network. So there is a risk reward ratio.
If you know how to set up your PBN properly, the reward is very, very high compared to the amount of risk that you're going to take.
If you don't really know what you're doing, then yeah, you're going to spend a bunch of money on PBN sites, and you're going to build links and then your PBN's are going to get deindexed, you're going to lose your rankings, you might even lose some of your money sites.
So it's all in what you know, and how safely you set things up. But we can manage our risk simply by knowing how to set up our PBN's and to stay hidden and fly under the radar.
In Summary
So there are pros, there are cons I definitely just want to outline everything for you. In the next video, I'm going to talk about the cost versus the value of owning a PBN network and then we will get into how to find PBN's and how to build PBN's.

I just started going through this but I love the site organization and the transcripts!
